DAMS: Congratulations on securing a good ranks. What is the secret of your success in this exam?
Dr.Alpesh Goyal: Thanks. There is no secret for my success. Just the old saying that with ordinary talent and extra ordinary perseverance, everything is achievable perhaps hold true for me
DAMS: How did your parents, family and friends contribute to your success?
Dr.Alpesh Goyal: My parents, friends are the sole reason. I could secure this rank
DAMS: Who influenced you to take up Medicine?
Dr.Alpesh Goyal: My parents and my elder brother inspired me to take up medicine.
DAMS: We appreciate the fact that preparing for an extremely competitive exam must be really challenging. During your preparation, did you ever doubt your ability to succeed in it?
Dr.Alpesh Goyal: Yes, sometimes you may feel bit how, but then you need to focus and things will fall in place.
DAMS: Which books did you read for the theory part?
Dr.Alpesh Goyal: All the general text books we read for our professional exam
DAMS : Which books did you read for MCQ revision? Which revision books were the most productive and which were least?
Dr.Alpesh Goyal: A.A and M.K Dr. Sumer Sethi’s text book of read only.
DAMS : How important you think was DAMS in your preparation ?
Dr.Alpesh Goyal: I joined DAMS in my pre-final year and continued it with test series in my internship. I thank DAMS notes are compact, updated and easy to revise. Also their grand tests are very useful
DAMS: What do you think is the better way of preparation between selective, intensive study and wide, extensive study? What did you choose as your style of studying?
Dr.Alpesh Goyal: Selective intensive study.
DAMS: Indian PG entrances are highly competitive so to compete them students end up in appearing in multiple PG exams , kindly extend your views on this and also their pros and cons of appearing in multiple PG entrances .
Dr.Alpesh Goyal: One can generally prepare for one / two exams but appearing in multiple exam helps to build the confidence and exam temperament which is most important for the D- day
DAMS: Which subjects did you focus on?
Dr.Alpesh Goyal: All subjects are usually important. But to get top rank, a hold is refused on short subjects
DAMS: What was your strategy for the exam day? How many questions did you attempt and why?
Dr.Alpesh Goyal: My strategy in PGI exam was to attempt any option only after being sure about it. I attempted around 245 questions in PGI
DAMS: What do you want to specialize in, why and where?
Dr.Alpesh Goyal: Medicine or paediatrics from PGI, as it is one of the best centres in the country for these subjects
DAMS: Which teachers in DAMS influenced you most and what do you like about DAMS and would recommend to your juniors?
Dr.Alpesh Goyal: Dr. Sumer Sethi for his constant support and valuable guidance.Dr. Rajeev Tiwari. Surgery, Dr. Sumer Sethi. Paediatrics.
