DAMS: Congratulations on securing
a good ranks. What is the secret of your success in
this exam?
Dr. Ankur Agarwal: There is no secret for exam like medical pg..for every successful candidate its just the effort u can put in..

DAMS: How did your parents, family and
friends contribute to your success?
Dr. Ankur Agarwal: My parents believed in me, that was the biggest support for anyone... my friends were my backbone... they encouraged me to the max.. Especially my friend dr. prayas vats with whom i prepared, he got selected with intern.. i had to drop once , but all’s well that ends well.

DAMS: Who influenced you to take up
Medicine?
Dr. Ankur Agarwal: my father is a businessman... he since my childhood used to speak about the values associated with this profession.. so all that began from there..

DAMS: We appreciate the fact that
preparing for an extremely competitive exam must be really challenging. During
your preparation, did you ever doubt your ability to succeed in it?
Dr. Ankur Agarwal: yes ..prepared well during intern but got 5276 rank in neet..that was quite demoralising.. not compromising with the branches that I was getting at that rank and taking a drop was bit difficult..

Which books did you read for the theory part?
Dr. Ankur Agarwal: my weak point is my hippocampus... craming facts and figures is very tough for me..
i call it numerical dyslexia...
so i focused on text books since mbbs time..

DAMS : Which
books did you read for MCQ revision? Which revision books were the most
productive and which were least?
Dr. Ankur Agarwal: anat, pharmac , patho, micro, obg, i did from allindia aiims papers and pgi manoj chaudhary, pgi questions are really engrossing and clears lots of concepts..
medicine i prefer mudit khanna as explanations are short and precise..

DAMS : How important you think was DAMS
in your preparation ?
Dr. Ankur Agarwal: learnt a lot from all the teachers.. many concepts which were not clear during mbbs were solved..notes they give are very engrossing and just have to be supplemented with mcq books...

DAMS: What do you think is the better
way of preparation between selective, intensive study and wide, extensive
study? What did you choose as your style of studying?
Dr. Ankur Agarwal:..i preferred intensive book reading during mbbs .. did not do any mcqs that time.. during preparation has to get selective..this was the mistake i did during intern, during which i did not do any mcq even..

DAMS: Indian PG entrances are highly
competitive so to compete them students end up in appearing in multiple PG
exams , kindly extend your views on this and also their pros and cons of
appearing in multiple PG entrances .
Dr. Ankur Agarwal: i think concept of neet was good.. by that all students of india can be compared on an equal scale..but keeping multiple sessions leaves a very little but possible bias..

DAMS: Which subjects did you focus on?
Dr. Ankur Agarwal: physio, patho, medicine have always been my interest.. i focused on my weak subjects like surgery, pharma, and short subjects

DAMS: What was your strategy for the
exam day? How many questions did you attempt and why?
Dr. Ankur Agarwal: no question of leaving any question in no negative marking... speed has to be maintained, so keeping calm before and during the exam was very important...

in, why and where?
Dr. Ankur Agarwal: md paediatrics from Delhi..

DAMS: Which teachers in DAMS influenced
you most and what do you like about DAMS and would recommend to your juniors?
Dr. Ankur Agarwal: i cannot be biased for any particular teacher, i thank all of them ..

i would recommend all my juniors
to focus on standard texts during mbbs,... during preperation practise as many
questions as possible..there is no substitute for hardwork..
