DAMS SKY awarded in South Asian E-Health Summit 2014

DAMS SKY, India's first Satellite best medical tele-education network  has been awarded "Excellence in Medical Education" award in South Asian E-Health Summit 2014.  

This was followed by a panel discussion on role of ICT in medical education with me are Dr Rajiv Kumar Jain, Additional Chief Health Director (administration) Northern Railways and Dr Tapan K.Jena, Professor, School of Health Sciences, IGNOU.

Dr. Aamir: Nothing but Hardwork, determination and of course the support from my friends and family. Joining DAMS was a turning point.

DAMS: How did your parents, family and friends contribute to your success?
Dr. Aamir: Supported me in each and every step.

DAMS: Who influenced you to take up Medicine?
Dr. Aamir: It was my decision, to some extent my mother.

DAMS: We appreciate the fact that preparing for an extremely competitive exam must be really challenging. During your preparation, did you ever doubt your ability to succeed in it?
Dr. Aamir: Yes!! .... Many a times, but it didn’t stop me from doing hard work.

DAMS:  Which books did you read for the theory part?
Dr. Aamir: Class notes, last year papers (just Q+A).

DAMS: Which books did you read for MCQ revision? Which revision books were the most productive and which were least?
Dr. Aamir: All subject wise books were really of no use, just the class notes.

DAMS: How important you think was DAMS in your preparation?
Dr. Aamir: As I already mentioned, it was a turning point I’m thankful to the entire teacher here in DAMS.

DAMS: What do you think is the better way of preparation between selective, intensive study and wide, extensive study? What did you choose as your style of studying?
Dr. Aamir: Revision of class notes again & again till you are through with it...and the test (SWT+GT) organized by DAMS sincerely.

DAMS: Indian PG entrances are highly competitive so to compete them students end up in appearing in multiple PG exams , kindly extend your views on this and also their pros and cons of appearing in multiple PG entrances .
Dr. Aamir: I would suggest all the students preparing for entrance to sit for all the exams  because each exam is different you never know...

DAMS: Which subjects did you focus on?
Dr. Aamir: The major subjects-Medicine, Surgery, G+O but the subjects like Radio, Anaesthesia holds the key.

DAMS: What was your strategy for the exam day? How many questions did you attempt and why?
Dr. Aamir: I tried to attempt the maximum no. of questions logical guesswork did wonder for me.

DAMS: What do you want to specialize in, why and where?
Dr. Aamir: Neuro-surgery, or any surgical branch from AIIMS, but I won’t mind doing surgery from other colleges.

DAMS: Which teachers in DAMS influenced you most and what do you like about DAMS and would recommend to your juniors?
Dr. Aamir: All the Teachers are just wonderful specially OBG mam for her immense support and finely updates. Sumer sir for his encouraging words.

Surgery sir, Pharma sir & PSM sir for their extensive classes and their notes.

Dr. Rohit: I joined DAMS regular session and follow each and every class and even every tests & discussions very seriously. This being me a good rank.

Dr. Rohit: They always supported me and trusted me and always being a source of inspiration for me.

DAMS: Who influenced you to take up Medicine?
Dr. Rohit: My father.

DAMS: We appreciate the fact that preparing for an extremely competitive exam must be really challenging. During your preparation, did you ever doubt your ability to succeed in it?
Dr. Rohit: Yes, many a times but after joining DAMS & with their regular test, I always able to regain my confidence.

Dr. Rohit: I studied my regular MBBS books only if i have any doubt, otherwise I followed DAMS regular class notes.

DAMS: Which books did you read for MCQ revision? Which revision books were the most productive and which were least?
Dr. Rohit: For medicine MK, AA, Opthal Ruchi Ray across for short subjects DNB ques bank New NBE pattern based MCQ book .

DAMS : How important you think was DAMS in your preparation ?
Dr. Rohit: DAMS Played very crucial role, help me in time management, give me concrete notes to follow and a timely &  regular schedule to follow .

DAMS: What do you think is the better way of preparation between selective, intensive study and wide, extensive study? What did you choose as your style of studying?
Dr. Rohit: Selective, intensive study is better for pg preparation and extensive which during MBBS.

DAMS: Indian PG entrances are highly competitive so to compete them students end up in appearing in multiple PG exams , kindly extend your views on this and also their pros and cons of appearing in multiple PG entrances .
Dr. Rohit: According to me, give all the Exams, it will prepare your mind for MCQ pattern, help u in time management and they are very crucial for self assessment.

DAMS: Which subjects did you focus on?
Dr. Rohit: Short subjects are must to study and very slowing revises them before exams.

DAMS: What was your strategy for the exam day? How many questions did you attempt and why?
Dr. Rohit:  I attempted all the ques particularly for PGI time important is important as you have 1250 statement in 3 hours.

DAMS: What do you want to specialize in, why and where?
Dr. Rohit: Medicine is my passion and want to do medicine in one of the Apex Institute of India i.e PGI Chandigarh.

DAMS: Which teachers in DAMS influenced you most and what do you like about DAMS and would recommend to your juniors?
Dr. Rohit: OBG mam because she is so hardworking that always boosted me up & seriously she is very dedicated for students. DAMS regular batches are very useful & crucial not only for PG purpose but for individual knowledge.

Dr. Devesh: Just hard work, revision and proper guidance from teachers, seniors and friends.

DAMS: How did your parents, family and friends contribute to your success?
Dr. Devesh: My parents and friends always supported me that u can do it. They always boost up my confidence and influenced me for studies.

DAMS: Who influenced you to take up Medicine?
Dr. Devesh: My parents and sister influenced me to take Dentistry but I always wanted to be Cardiologist.

DAMS: We appreciate the fact that preparing for an extremely competitive exam must be really challenging. During your preparation, did you ever doubt your ability to succeed in it?
Dr. Devesh: No. I didn’t doubt my ability to succeed but there was always a pressure which we have to overcome for proper studies.

Dr. Devesh: Profitt, Philips, Mc Donald.

DAMS : Which books did you read for MCQ revision? Which revision books were the most productive and which were least?
Dr. Devesh: Pulse, Wadhwan, sharan , Gouri Shankar, Prabhakar, NBDE.

DAMS : How important you think was DAMS in your preparation ?
Dr. Devesh: DAMS was important for me for clearing all my doubts and controversial which were discussed in FB group and test series was helpful for my subject wise revision. I suggest every student to join DAMS regular course.

DAMS: What do you think is the better way of preparation between selective, intensive study and wide, extensive study? What did you choose as your style of studying?
Dr. Devesh: My style of studying was extensive earlier but as time passed and after having a base my style of studying shifted towards selective study. Now I required only few hours to revise a subject.

DAMS: Indian PG entrances are highly competitive so to compete them students end up in appearing in multiple PG exams , kindly extend your views on this and also their pros and cons of appearing in multiple PG entrances .
Dr. Devesh: It is better to give the entire exam as we get practise through it, our loop whole, our weakness, the topic at which we are weak. So I suggest everyone to give every exam possible.

DAMS: Which subjects did you focus on?
Dr. Devesh: I focussed mainly on Dental Clinical Subjects because maximum new questions are from these subject only specially Ortho, Endo, Perio, Oral Surgery.

DAMS: What was your strategy for the exam day? How many questions did you attempt and why?
Dr. Devesh: I didn’t have any strategy for exam day. I just decided that I will give my best and rest it was left up to god.

DAMS: What do you want to specialize in, why and where?
Dr. Devesh: I want to specialise in Oral Surgery or Prostho because I like those subject from starting of my BDS and my teachers has developed interest in me for those subjects.

DAMS: Which teachers in DAMS influenced you most and what do you like about DAMS and would recommend to your juniors?
Dr. Devesh: Gaurav Sir has influenced me most and I am taking guidance from him regularly . And I also recommend my juniors to always take guidance from him.

Dr. Amit: AA is a must. Read chaurasia for micro+ DAMS notes for short subjects.

DAMS : How important you think was DAMS in your preparation ?
Dr. Amit: DAMS class notes were the most productive & way essential part of my prep . Grand tests were also helpful.

DAMS: What do you think is the better way of preparation between selective, intensive study and wide, extensive study? What did you choose as your style of studying?
Dr. Amit: Selective, Intensive (i.e multiple revision ) study.

DAMS: Indian PG entrances are highly competitive so to compete them students end up in appearing in multiple PG exams , kindly extend your views on this and also their pros and cons of appearing in multiple PG entrances .
Dr. Amit: I opted for AIIMS, PGI & AIPGE because none of the other colleges was an option for me . But yes if you have an option go for the exams. Won’t harm.

DAMS: Which subjects did you focus on?
Dr. Amit: 1^st &2^nd year were my weakest & I concentrated on them. Short subjects in final year are also important.

DAMS: What was your strategy for the exam day? How many questions did you attempt and why?
Dr. Amit: Strategy- attempt 195 with good guesses.

 I attempted 188 because the paper seemed together & I didn’t want too many negatives.

DAMS: What do you want to specialize in, why and where?
Dr. Amit: Radiology, AIIMS.

DAMS: Which teachers in DAMS influenced you most and what do you like about DAMS and would recommend to your juniors?
Dr. Amit: Dr Sumer Sethi Sir’s class & T n D were very helpful. Medicine, Surgery, pharma, Anaesthesia, Biochemistry Faculties. DAMS Notes were very handy in the last hour .

Dr. Abhenil: My parents were my biggest support throughout MBBS. Whenever I got demotivated they motivated me. My friends always reassured me that i will get through.

Dr. Abhenil: All standard MCQ books and sumer sethi sir’s radio.

Dr. Abhenil: DAMS was important in highlighting what to study for the entrances as before 3rd year I did not have much of an idea.

DAMS: What do you think is the better way of preparation between selective, intensive study and wide, extensive study? What did you choose as your style of studying?
Dr. Abhenil: Wide extensive, I believe in covering anything not learning anytime to chance.

DAMS: Indian PG entrances are highly competitive so to compete them students end up in appearing in multiple PG exams , kindly extend your views on this and also their pros and cons of appearing in multiple PG entrances .
Dr. Abhenil: Advantages being you get more chances. It is always possible your luck may favour you one day and not so much another day.

The only disadvantage being different things & different kinds of questions are ahead in each exam with many varied book for each exam which matter it hard to chose what to study and what not to.

Dr. Abhenil: Mainly 1st &2^nd year and short subjects like Anaesthesia and Radiology.
