Dr.Anand Pasari: I took MS OPHTHALMOLOGY at PGIMER, CHANDIGARH .......one of the best and most prestigious institutes in the country......dream of every medico.........

Dr.Anand Pasari: SUMER SIR’S RADIO BOOK N FORENSIC BOOK by Sumit Sethi are short and almost complete...... DAMS UPDATES booklet had most of changes in standard texts.......DAMS TEST SERIES AND CLASSES are among the best available.......I recommend juniors to join them from pre-final or final yrs itself to get best results......wish u all the best...

Parents were very co-operative & always believed me & in whatever i did. Friends helped during combined studies & discussions.

Dr.Siddharth Dubey:
I took Ortho & my father influenced me a lot.

DAMS: We appreciate the fact that preparing for an extremely competitive exam must be really challenging. During your preparation, did you ever doubt your ability to succeed in it?
Dr.Siddharth Dubey:
Luckily never because when you start doubting your abilities, its the time you are out of the race.

Dr.Siddharth Dubey:
Grays (student’s edition), Ganong, Park, CMDT, DAMS Notes, Class Notes etc......

DAMS: Which books did you read for MCQ revision? Which revision books were the most productive and which were least?
Dr.Siddharth Dubey:
Arvind Arora, may be most productive & across may be least productive (but the only option for some subjects).


DAMS: How important you think was DAMS in your preparation?
Dr.Siddharth Dubey:
Well quite important because it was the period when I started my preparation & a proper guidance at that time.

DAMS: What do you think is the better way of preparation between selective, intensive study and wide, extensive study? What did you choose as your style of studying?
Dr.Siddharth Dubey:
Due to time constrains I feel selective study is better option.

DAMS: Indian PG entrances are highly competitive so to compete them students end up in appearing in multiple PG exams , kindly extend your views on this and also their pros and cons of appearing in multiple PG entrances .
Dr.Siddharth Dubey:
Appearing in too much of exams without focussing on your target institute could sometimes be hazardous, I feel it is better to choose the exams of your choice & prepare accordingly because pattern of preparation do differ in many of the exams.

DAMS: Which subjects did you focus on?
Dr.Siddharth Dubey:
I feel it is better to focus on your week subjects but only when you are in a position to decide them, till then its better to give impatience to all of them. Mine were Opthal & Ortho.

DAMS: What was your strategy for the exam day? How many questions did you attempt and why?
Dr.Siddharth Dubey:
My strategy was to first attempt as many questions which I could confidently avoiding minus marking. I attempted 186 questions.

DAMS: What do you want to specialize in, why and where?
Dr.Siddharth Dubey:
Orthopaedics, I always wanted to from AIIMS.

DAMS: Which teachers in DAMS influenced you most and what do you like about DAMS and would recommend to your juniors?
Dr.Siddharth Dubey:
Dr.Sumer Sethi sir, Paediatrics, Surgery, ENT, Opthal faculties.

It’s all due to god`s blessings, my strong family support & caring friends. Hard work if done consistently & smartly always pays off!

They are the real pillars of my life. They experienced my stress more than myself & supported me all way along one of the toughest phases of a medico`s life.

Dr.Jujhar Singh:
My Grandfather..... my Inspiration!

Dr.Jujhar Singh:
Every single day was like a battle but family , DAMS Faculty & regular hard work gave me confidence to achieve my ultimate goal.

Dr.Jujhar Singh:
I read AA & MK PLUS Manoj Chaudhary for PGI. For reference I read Harrison, sabiston , robbins , katzung , ananthanarayan.

DAMS: Which books did you read for MCQ revision? Which revision books were the most productive and which were least?
Dr.Jujhar Singh:
Again focussed on previous 10 yr papers. MK, AA were most productive & across though an excellent book but has many mistakes was less productive.


DAMS: How important you think was DAMS in your preparation?
Dr.Jujhar Singh:
DAMS FACULTY esp. Sumer sir, surgery sir was all gr8 source of motivation & grand tests by DAMS helped a lot to assess my own performance. All T&D classes were excellent.

DAMS: What do you think is the better way of preparation between selective, intensive study and wide, extensive study? What did you choose as your style of studying?
Dr.Jujhar Singh:
I have always preferred selective intensive style of study coz sky is the limit when it comes to entrance exams & it’s better to focus on imp topics.

DAMS: Indian PG entrances are highly competitive so to compete them students end up in appearing in multiple PG exams , kindly extend your views on this and also their pros and cons of appearing in multiple PG entrances .
Dr.Jujhar Singh:
Multiple PG exams are very imp coz nobody except few can perform to best of their abilities every day. If a person has a bad day in one exam, he can always bounce back. But then it is also stressful to prepare for every exam in a new way. So it’s like a two edged sword!

DAMS: Which subjects did you focus on?
Dr.Jujhar Singh:
I focussed on medicine, pathology, pharma, micro & all remaining short subjects.

DAMS: What was your strategy for the exam day? How many questions did you attempt and why?
Dr.Jujhar Singh:
Strategy was to minimise silly mistakes as much as possible. I attempted all questions in PGI & marked around 480 options. As negative marking is high in PGI & calculated risks should be taken.

DAMS: What do you want to specialize in, why and where?
Dr.Jujhar Singh:
I wanted to become an Orthopaedic Surgeon & that’s what I have got at prestigious PGI Chandigarh.

DAMS: Which teachers in DAMS influenced you most and what do you like about DAMS and would recommend to your juniors?
Dr.Jujhar Singh:
Dr Sumer Sethi is undoubtly the best teacher & a gr8 source of inspiration for all pg aspirants. His approach to teach is seasoned & it was a privilege to attend his classes, Surgery sir was also good & so was peads. All teachers gave their best while teaching.

My parents both are doctors so I was always inclined towards this profession.

Yes there were times when I felt low & discouraged but there was always the belief that I’ll succeed in achieving my goal.

Guyton for Physiology, Lipemotts – Biochem, Robbins- Patho, Bailey & Love for surgery & Harrison for medicine.

AA & MK mainly & Manoj Chaudhry for PGI, PGI questions are good & helped me a lot in many exams.

DAMS T & D helped me to understand the pattern of exam & test series helped me in time management during exams.

Every subject is important but I think short subjects give you an edge.

They have been very supportive throughout my preparation.

Dr. Parminder Singh Manghera:
My father and Elder Sister.

During early phase early moment was spent in doubt however things become more comfortable later on.

harrison, lippincott biochem, and other usual undergraduate books.

Dr. Parminder Singh Manghera:
10 years MK and AA and Manoj Chaudary for PGI across were least productive. Sparsh Gupta for Pharma was most productive.

DAMS class notes helped to revise faster and grand test helped to know about preparation....

selective intensive is better during internship but during UG one should study extensively.

its matter of time concept of single exam is new its pros and cons will be decided later on...

Dr. Parminder Singh Manghera:
to mark optimum questions not to attempt blind guesses in all India I attempted 266/300 and in PGI around 239/250.

Dr. Parminder Singh Manghera:
currently I have taken admission in MD Medicine at SMS MC Jaipur final will be decided after PGI counseling.

DAMS: Which teachers in DAMS influenced you most and what do you like about DAMS and would recommend to your juniors?

Dams classes really helped the lot. All teachers are good but Dr Sumer Sethi, Surgey, Pharma, Paeds, Patho, ENT are extremely good.

Thank you , the secret of success has been has been a good study atmosphere , both in the college and home , Consistency , Blessings of the Almighty and parents , and finally the tension free study approach .

Dr.Avik Banerjee:
They all made me more and more confident that I could crack the exam in the single go , which gave me the impetus to give my best shot . Especially thanks to Bhupesh, Jasmeet , Anmol .

Dr.Avik Banerjee:
The scope , the newly emerging possibilities in super specialities and the unsaturated nature of this branch made me incline towards it . Plus definitely there is the lifestyle factor as an added advantage .

Dr.Avik Banerjee:
Many many times , but I was always reminded that I could crack it , and even if I don’t , whatever results my endeavour produced , it would be well accepted , a fact , especially from my mother , again and again , which made me study the best .

DAMS: Which books did you read for the theory part?
Dr.Avik Banerjee:
The Standard Textbooks , for any repeated topic and topics of doubt .

DAMS : Which books did you read for MCQ revision? Which revision books were the most productive and which were least?
Dr.Avik Banerjee:
Dams notes and individual books for long subjects , ESP : SPM , SURGERY , PAEDIATRICS , PHARMA , PATHO
Dams notes only for short subjects [ along with across ] : ESP : ENT , RADIOLOGY , ANATOMY , PHYSIO , BIOCHEM , FORENSIC , DERMAT , PSYCIATRY
Some individual books : EYE [ RUCHI RAI ] , ARVIND ARORA : MICRO , Sakshi : OBG GYNAE
Some subjects everyday in the background : Medicine : Amit Ashish .

Plus I want to add , the most yielding topics of every subject , rather than the whole subject , especially at the time of revision is a very very important utility .

DAMS : How important you think was DAMS in your preparation ?
Dr.Avik Banerjee:
Dams provided a very comforting atmosphere with a very cooperative teacher student and moderator student environment, where I could ask the doubts , post queries and give my tests and get the results at a very self adjusted pace . Of course to add to that there was the Dams exclusive website which dealt with many a controversial questions and topics which are often a source of confusion and errors .

DAMS: What do you think is the better way of preparation between selective, intensive study and wide, extensive study? What did you choose as your style of studying?
Dr.Avik Banerjee:
Selective Intensive study , as I said , I made sure the most important topics of all the subjects , rather than the whole subjects was revised before any exam I gave .

Pros : a mental backup , time factor , experience of past papers helping .
Cons : Burnt out during the time interval between state pg’s and all India .

Dr.Avik Banerjee:
Short subjects plus most yielding parts of long subjects .

DAMS: What was your strategy for the exam day? How many questions did you attempt and why?
Dr.Avik Banerjee:
Strategy was to simply to go the centre without any tensions or revision on the day of the paper , and to keep an high attempt , …..exams like Punjab don’t give you a choice , but for all india and aiims , if two options can be confidently ruled out , one must eliminate and go for the answer to stay in hunt . For PGI : only attempt choices one is 100% sure of .

DAMS: What do you want to specialize in, why and where?
Dr.Avik Banerjee:
After MD Radiology , I want to take up interventional radiology to become an Interventional Cardiologist .

There is no secret as such. Hard work and self confidence did it for me.

Dr.Sankalp Dudeja:
They had a major role to play. My parents and friends were the pillars of support all through my preparation.

Dr.Sankalp Dudeja:
My father, Who is a doctor himself, inspired me towards medicine.

Yes there were such moments of course but my parents support pulled me through.

Harrison for medicine, Bailey for surgery, op Ghai for pediations. Dr. JB Sharma’s book for obstetrics and other standard text books.

Dr.Sankalp Dudeja:
Amit Ashish and Mudit khanna for previous year papers. Gobind garg and across for subject wise.


DAMS : How important you think was DAMS in your preparation ?
Dr.Sankalp Dudeja:
I joined DAMS Grand test series which i think was very useful.

DAMS: What do you think is the better way of preparation between selective, intensive study and wide, extensive study? What did you choose as your style of studying?
Dr.Sankalp Dudeja:
Well, I mainly opted for selective intensive study (keeping in mind my poor memory skills i could not afford extensive study.)

DAMS: Indian PG entrances are highly competitive so to compete them students end up in appearing in multiple PG exams , kindly extend your views on this and also their pros and cons of appearing in multiple PG entrances .
Dr.Sankalp Dudeja:
They have NEET PG from this year onwards.

DAMS: Which subjects did you focus on?
Dr.Sankalp Dudeja:
Medicine, Pathology and Pharmacology, I think area the major chunk. Small subjects like forensics, Anaesthesia, dermatology etc. are also important.

DAMS: What was your strategy for the exam day? How many questions did you attempt and why?
Dr.Sankalp Dudeja:
I attempted 299 questions. I thought i should attack each question. I marked the answer even if i could rule out one option.

DAMS: What do you want to specialize in, why and where?
Dr.Sankalp Dudeja:
not yet decided. I am confused bin Radiology. Dermatology and paediatrics.

DAMS: Which teachers in DAMS influenced you most and what do you like about DAMS and would recommend to your juniors?
Dr.Sankalp Dudeja:
I didn’t join the classroom course at DAMS. So, I don’t have any idea about the faculty. I once attended a seminar on ‘how to crack PG Entrance’ by Dr. Sumer Sethi at ALLMS and found that quite inspiring.

DAMS: Indian PG entrances are highly competitive so to compete them students end up in appearing in multiple PG exams , kindly extend your views on this and also their pros and cons of appearing in multiple PG entrances .
Dr.Biranchi Narayan Mohapatra:
By appearing Multiple PG Exams definitely a good exposure to variety of questions which makes a conceptual clarity but in Indian scenario where corruption is a part in every corner, uniform rules and guidelines through a common window definitely glow students with little hands.

Short subjects.

DAMS: What was your strategy for the exam day? How many questions did you attempt and why?
Dr.Biranchi Narayan Mohapatra:
To avoid Negative Marks as far as possible. 262/300.

Dr.Biranchi Narayan Mohapatra:
S.C.B.Medical College, Cuttack: State’s Best College.

In Radio diagnosis- As Patients depends upon Physicians/Surgeons and they depend upon Radiologist. If a Radiologist want can treat/guide a patient in a better way from very early stage of the disease: Early diagnosis early treatment principle.

Dr. Sumer k Sethi is the source inspiration in DAMS.
