Interview with our topper Dr. Abhenil Mittal

Dr. Abhenil Mittal did his MBBS from MAMC and joined DAMS

He secured Rank 6 IN AIIMS Nov 2014 & Rank 7 in PGI Nov 2014 Examination

DAMS: Congratulations on securing a good ranks. What is the secret of your success in this exam?
Dr. Abhenil: Regular studies and relying on text book.

DAMS: How did your parents, family and friends contribute to your success?
Dr. Abhenil: My parents were my biggest support throughout MBBS. Whenever I got demotivated they motivated me. My friends always reassured me that i will get through.

DAMS: Who influenced you to take up Medicine?
Dr. Abhenil: My parents both are doctors.

DAMS: We appreciate the fact that preparing for an extremely competitive exam must be really challenging. During your preparation, did you ever doubt your ability to succeed in it?
Dr. Abhenil: Yes, always because the competition is extremely tough.

DAMS:  Which books did you read for the theory part?
Dr. Abhenil:  Standard text book till final year especially Robbins for pathology, Harison for medicine, Bailey for surgery.

DAMS : Which books did you read for MCQ revision? Which revision books were the most productive and which were least?
Dr. Abhenil: All standard MCQ books and sumer sethi sir’s radio.

 
DAMS : How important you think was DAMS in your preparation ?
Dr. Abhenil: DAMS was important in highlighting what to study for the entrances as before 3rd year I did not have much of an idea.

DAMS: What do you think is the better way of preparation between selective, intensive study and wide, extensive study? What did you choose as your style of studying?
Dr. Abhenil: Wide extensive, I believe in covering anything not learning anytime to chance.

DAMS: Indian PG entrances are highly competitive so to compete them students end up in appearing in multiple PG exams , kindly extend your views on this and also their pros and cons of appearing in multiple PG entrances .
Dr. Abhenil: Advantages being you get more chances. It is always possible your luck may favour you one day and not so much another day.

The only disadvantage being different things & different kinds of questions are ahead in each exam with many varied book for each exam which matter it hard to chose what to study and what not to.

DAMS: Which subjects did you focus on?
Dr. Abhenil: Mainly 1st &2^nd year and short subjects like Anaesthesia and Radiology.

DAMS: What was your strategy for the exam day? How many questions did you attempt and why?
Dr. Abhenil: In AIIMS I did 196 questions I was prepared to attempt the questions & more chance to getting it right.

DAMS: What do you want to specialize in, why and where?
Dr. Abhenil: AIIMS MD Medicine that has been the dream since I entered medical college.

DAMS: Which teachers in DAMS influenced you most and what do you like about DAMS and would recommend to your juniors?
Dr. Abhenil: All the teachers were good especially Dr Sumer sir for radiology and medicine faculty was really good. Yes I will recommend it to My juniors.
