DAMS: Congratulations on securing a good ranks. What is the secret of your success in this exam?
Dr. Umar Mukhtar Siddique:
Hardwork, consistency & perseverance.

DAMS: How did your parents, family and friends contribute to your success?
Dr. Umar Mukhtar Siddique:
My parents encouraged me a lot, esp at time when I felt low. I also had some great friends who used to boost my confidence.

DAMS: Who influenced you to take up Radio diagnosis?
Dr. Umar Mukhtar Siddique:
My parents both are doctors so I was always inclined towards this profession.

DAMS: We appreciate the fact that preparing for an extremely competitive exam must be really challenging. During your preparation, did you ever doubt your ability to succeed in it?
Dr. Umar Mukhtar Siddique:
Yes there were times when I felt low & discouraged but there was always the belief that I’ll succeed in achieving my goal.

DAMS: Which books did you read for the theory part?
Dr. Umar Mukhtar Siddique:
Guyton for Physiology, Lipemotts – Biochem, Robbins- Patho, Bailey & Love for surgery & Harrison for medicine.

DAMS : Which books did you read for MCQ revision? Which revision books were the most productive and which were least?
Dr. Umar Mukhtar Siddique:
AA & MK mainly & Manoj Chaudhry for PGI, PGI questions are good & helped me a lot in many exams.

DAMS : How important you think was DAMS in your preparation ?
Dr. Umar Mukhtar Siddique:
DAMS T & D helped me to understand the pattern of exam & test series helped me in time management during exams.

DAMS: What do you think is the better way of preparation between selective, intensive study and wide, extensive study? What did you choose as your style of studying?
Dr. Umar Mukhtar Siddique:
Extensive studies during MBBS, selective & intensive during internship.

DAMS: Indian PG entrances are highly competitive so to compete them students end up in appearing in multiple PG exams , kindly extend your views on this and also their pros and cons of appearing in multiple PG entrances .
Dr. Umar Mukhtar Siddique:
I think one should focus on preparation for one exam but appear for as many exams as possible as luck will favour you in or the other exam to get the branch of your choice.

DAMS: Which subjects did you focus on?
Dr. Umar Mukhtar Siddique:
Every subject is important but I think short subjects give you an edge.

DAMS: What was your strategy for the exam day? How many questions did you attempt and why?
Dr. Umar Mukhtar Siddique:
My strategy is to attempt as many questions as possible but not blindly.

DAMS: What do you want to specialize in, why and where?
Dr. Umar Mukhtar Siddique:
Radio diagnosis in my state.

DAMS: Which teachers in DAMS influenced you most and what do you like about DAMS and would recommend to your juniors?
Dr. Umar Mukhtar Siddique:
Dr. Sumer Sethi for Radio.
