Dr. Geetika Srivastava did her MBBS from LHMC and joined DAMS She  secured  Rank 6 IN PGI Nov 2013 Exam


DAMS: Congratulations on securing a  good  ranks. What is the secret of your success in this exam?
Dr. Geetika Srivastava:
Confidence on myself. A thorough knowledge of subjects, speed it is very important for Chandigarh PGI because the paper is lengthy.
DAMS: How did your parents, family and friends contribute to your success?
Dr. Geetika Srivastava:
My mom has absolute faith in me. Even when I used to doubt myself, she used to boost my confidence.
DAMS: Who influenced you to take up Medicine?
Dr. Geetika Srivastava:
It was my own decision. Nobody influences one and none from this field is my idol. I just want to excel in whatever i do.
DAMS: We appreciate the fact that preparing for an extremely competitive exam must be really challenging. During your preparation, did you ever doubt your ability to succeed in it?
Dr. Geetika Srivastava:
Yes, many times but a constant rank in Grand Test (within 100) & rank 79 in DNB August boosted my confidence.
DAMS:  Which books did you read for the theory part?
Dr. Geetika Srivastava:
Across 1 & across 2, AA, class notes for Anaesthesia, Opthal, ENT, OBG & Paeds.
DAMS : Which books did you read for MCQ revision? Which revision books were the most productive and which were least?
Dr. Geetika Srivastava:
Across 1 was least productive, class notes & self notes were most productive.
DAMS : How important you think was DAMS in your preparation ?
Dr. Geetika Srivastava:
I joined foundation course & I literally clammed every line of class notes that was very helpful.
DAMS: What do you think is the better way of preparation between selective, intensive study and wide, extensive study? What did you choose as your style of studying?
Dr. Geetika Srivastava:
First reading should be wide extensive then gradually & gradually selective intensive study.
DAMS: Indian PG entrances are highly competitive so to compete them students end up in appearing in multiple PG exams , kindly extend your views on this and also their pros and cons of appearing in multiple PG entrances .
Dr. Geetika Srivastava:
Multiple PG entrance exam is always good to appear. You never know which day is your lucky day.
DAMS: Which subjects did you focus on?
Dr. Geetika Srivastava:
Anatomy, Pathology, Pharmacology, Medicine.
DAMS: What was your strategy for the exam day? How many questions did you attempt and why?
Dr. Geetika Srivastava:
Be very relaxed, my target was to attempt 525 options to 575 options but due to time limit I could only attempt 520 options.
DAMS: What do you want to specialize in, why and where?
Dr. Geetika Srivastava:
Radiology or Dermatology. I am in love with these branches.
DAMS: Which teachers in DAMS influenced you most and what do you like about DAMS and would recommend to your juniors?
Dr. Geetika Srivastava:
Surgery sir. Is the best teacher.
