Dr. Amit Gupta did his MBBS from MAMC and joined DAMS 3 yrs course

He secured Rank 5 in AIIMS Nov 2014 & Rank 2 in PGI Nov 2104 Exams

DAMS: Congratulations on securing a good  ranks. What is the secret of your success in this exam?
Dr. Amit:
Perseverance, Balance, Hard Work & “Smart” Work.
DAMS: How did your parents, family and friends contribute to your success?
Dr. Amit:
Their support is the backbone of my success. Couldn’t have done it without them.
DAMS: Who influenced you to take up Medicine?
Dr. Amit:
My father. It is his dream that I am living.
DAMS: We appreciate the fact that preparing for an extremely competitive exam must be really challenging. During your preparation, did you ever doubt your ability to succeed in it?
Dr. Amit:
Yes, A lot of times. Even during the exam.
DAMS:  Which books did you read for the theory part?
Dr. Amit
: I read theory majorly in my MBBS only. Concentrated on DAMS Notes & MCQ books fort PG prep.
DAMS : Which books did you read for MCQ revision? Which revision books were the most productive and which were least?
Dr. Amit:
AA is a must. Read chaurasia for micro+ DAMS notes for short subjects.

DAMS : How important you think was DAMS in your preparation ?
Dr. Amit:
DAMS class notes were the most productive & way essential part of my prep . Grand tests were also helpful.
DAMS: What do you think is the better way of preparation between selective, intensive study and wide, extensive study? What did you choose as your style of studying?
Dr. Amit:
Selective, Intensive (i.e multiple revision ) study.
DAMS: Indian PG entrances are highly competitive so to compete them students end up in appearing in multiple PG exams , kindly extend your views on this and also their pros and cons of appearing in multiple PG entrances .
Dr. Amit:
I opted for AIIMS, PGI & AIPGE because none of the other colleges was an option for me . But yes if you have an option go for the exams. Won’t harm.
DAMS: Which subjects did you focus on?
Dr. Amit:
1st &2nd year were my weakest & I concentrated on them. Short subjects in final year are also important.
DAMS: What was your strategy for the exam day? How many questions did you attempt and why?
Dr. Amit:
Strategy- attempt 195 with good guesses.
 I attempted 188 because the paper seemed together & I didn’t want too many negatives.
DAMS: What do you want to specialize in, why and where?
Dr. Amit:
Radiology, AIIMS.
DAMS: Which teachers in DAMS influenced you most and what do you like about DAMS and would recommend to your juniors?
Dr. Amit:
Dr Sumer Sethi Sir’s class & T n D were very helpful. Medicine, Surgery, pharma, Anaesthesia, Biochemistry Faculties. DAMS Notes were very handy in the last hour .
