Interview with our topper Dr.Sourabh Malhotra
Dr. Sourabh Malhotra did his MBBS from GMC, Nagpur & joined
DAMS T & D course Regd no. DL06511
He secured Rank 3 IN DNB Aug 2012 Exam

DAMS: Congratulations on securing a  good  ranks. What is the secret of your success in this exam?
Dr.Sourabh Malhotra:
Believe in GOD, Family & My Love.
DAMS: How did your parents, family and friends contribute to your success?
Dr.Sourabh Malhotra:
This is for them, MINE is HARDWORK & Prayers are of them.
DAMS: Who influenced you to take up Medicine?
Dr.Sourabh Malhotra:
Its a dream to become Doctor, so follow my dream & its come true.
DAMS: We appreciate the fact that preparing for an extremely competitive exam must be really challenging. During your preparation, did you ever doubt your ability to succeed in it?
Dr.Sourabh Malhotra:
In life many hard period come, many times you fail, but all thats a part, it not doubting your ability, it doubting about your faith & luck.
DAMS:  Which books did you read for the theory part?
Dr.Sourabh Malhotra:
DAMS Notes are awesome (class notes), just got short subjects from notes, surgery, medicine, AA, Physio notes+Across, Biochem Notes+Across, Radio handbook of Radio.
DAMS : Which books did you read for MCQ revision? Which revision books were the most productive and which were least?
Dr.Sourabh Malhotra:
As far as DNB is concern, whole paper pattern is different from All India or AIIMS, Single times, factual questions, so I had made my notes. I read for DNB & also subjects Physio, Anatomy, Biochem as forming main bulk of 180 questions.

DAMS : How important you think was DAMS in your preparation ?
Dr.Sourabh Malhotra:
Plays a very important role for guidance, & classroom notes. They are so very helpful.
DAMS: What do you think is the better way of preparation between selective, intensive study and wide, extensive study? What did you choose as your style of studying?
Dr.Sourabh Malhotra:
I cannot decide any pattern for anyone, all brains are different, so its all depends on “U” to choose the best way. There are different “BEST” ways for “ONE GOAL” (SELECTION).
DAMS: Indian PG entrances are highly competitive so to compete them students end up in appearing in multiple PG exams , kindly extend your views on this and also their pros and cons of appearing in multiple PG entrances .
Dr.Sourabh Malhotra:
Appearing in Multiple PG exams is not Bad, if you are performing well, it boost up your confidence, but important is take every single exam as a COMPETITION’ as give your best thats important.
DAMS: Which subjects did you focus on?
Dr.Sourabh Malhotra:
For DNB I focused for 1st yr subjects, as they carry good wattage & also past year questions of DNB.
DAMS: What was your strategy for the exam day? How many questions did you attempt and why?
Dr.Sourabh Malhotra:
On exam day all strategy fails, so be calm. I just give the exam, that all. I had attempted 178 questions left 2. as “negative scoring is less”.
DAMS: What do you want to specialize in, why and where?
Dr.Sourabh Malhotra:
Want to specialize in Radiodignosis.
DAMS: Which teachers in DAMS influenced you most and what do you like about DAMS and would recommend to your juniors?
Dr.Sourabh Malhotra:
Whole faculty of DAMS is very influential.
