Interview with our topper Dr.Tuhin Mitra
Dr. Tuhin Mitra did his MBBS from MAMC and joined
DAMS Grand Test Series Regd no. DL12426
He secured Rank 6 IN DNB Aug 2012 Exam

DAMS: Congratulations on securing a good ranks. What is the secret of your success in this exam?
Dr.Tuhin Mitra:
I guess it is a combination of hardwork & luck.
DAMS: How did your parents, family and friends contribute to your success?
Dr.Tuhin Mitra:
A lot, I had doubts in myself many times during my preparation without their support I wouldn’t have cracked it.
DAMS: Who influenced you to take up Medicine?
Dr.Tuhin Mitra:
Since I am from a all engineer’s family, I wanted to be different & pursued Medicine.
DAMS: We appreciate the fact that preparing for an extremely competitive exam must be really challenging. During your preparation, did you ever doubt your ability to succeed in it?
Dr.Tuhin Mitra:
Yaa I had doubt but again support from family & friends kept me steady.
DAMS:  Which books did you read for the theory part?
Dr.Tuhin Mitra:
Harper for Biochem, Ganong for Physiology, Robbins-Pathology, KDT-Pharma, Harrison-Medicine.
DAMS: Which books did you read for MCQ revision? Which revision books were the most productive and which were least?
Dr.Tuhin Mitra:
AA, MK, Govind Rai Garg, Rachna Chaurasia, Micro, Across. Most productive AA, MK, Least-Across.

DAMS: How important you think was DAMS in your preparation?
Dr.Tuhin Mitra:
I joined DAMS in pre final year, which made me aware of the topics in competitive examination & then the test series which had both NEET pattern & old pattern questions that helped a lot.
DAMS: What do you think is the better way of preparation between selective, intensive study and wide, extensive study? What did you choose as your style of studying?
Dr.Tuhin Mitra:
Extensive study during MBBS, & intensive during internship.
DAMS: Indian PG entrances are highly competitive so to compete them students end up in appearing in multiple PG exams , kindly extend your views on this and also their pros and cons of appearing in multiple PG entrances .
Dr.Tuhin Mitra:
Multiple PG entrances are always better as you might get unwell on day of exam, & with simple exam it can be disastrous.
DAMS: Which subjects did you focus on?
Dr.Tuhin Mitra:
1st, 2nd Prof & Short Subjects.
DAMS: What was your strategy for the exam day? How many questions did you attempt and why?
Dr.Tuhin Mitra:
I attempted all the questions as there was only 1/10th negative marking.
DAMS: What do you want to specialize in, why and where?
Dr.Tuhin Mitra:
Radiodignosis, Delhi.
DAMS: Which teachers in DAMS influenced you most and what do you like about DAMS and would recommend to your juniors?
Dr.Tuhin Mitra:
Dr.Sumer Sethi & Surgery Sir. The competition is very tough, so it is better to start early. I joined in pre final yr only, the foundation course. Having notes for short subjects is of enormous importance.
