Interview with our topper Dr. Vaibhav S Nichat
Dr. Vaibhav S Nichat did his MBBS from Seth GS Medical College & KEM Hospital and joined DAMS Regd no MU00725
He secured Rank 8 IN DNB August 2013 Exam

DAMS: Congratulations on securing a good ranks. What is the secret of your success in this exam?
Dr Vaibhav:
THOUGHTS BECOME THINGS”, so the most important thing is to have a positive outlook towards our Life. Regular studies, hard work, Faith in God and parents support act as an additional benefits. The key point to crack any entrance exam is to REVISE regularly whatever you have studied before.
DAMS: How did your parents, family and friends contribute to your success?
Dr Vaibhav:
They have always motivated me and encouraged me every time to make my Dreams turn true. Regular discussion for 3 hrs with my friends benefited me with clear knowledge, added concepts and long term memory, and even my college Whatsapp group has helped me a lot with new PSM statistics and MC things.
DAMS: Who influenced you to take up Radiology?
Dr Vaibhav:
Dr Sumer Sethi sir and Interventional Neuro Radiology Department of KEM Hospital.
DAMS: We appreciate the fact that preparing for an extremely competitive exam must be really challenging. During your preparation, did you ever doubt your ability to succeed in it?
Dr Vaibhav:
Sometimes but i never let them conquer me, being an optimistic person, I always had a positive outlook towards my efforts.
DAMS:  Which books did you read for the theory part?
Dr Vaibhav:
ACROSS for 1st year subjects and Forensic, AA for Patho, Peds , SARPOO and Microbio and Radiology from Sumer Sethi.
DAMS: Which books did you read for revision? Which revision books were the most productive and which were least?
Dr Vaibhav:
My class Notes were the most productive notes from which I used to finish one major subject in a half day and two short subjects in a day. Least productive book is ACROSS but once you revised it properly, no other book will fetch you with more knowledge than ACROSS.

DAMS: How important you think was DAMS in your preparation?
Dr Vaibhav:
I joined DAMS Combo test series. The quality of questions was outstanding. The distribution of questions was equally balanced according to NBE and AIIMS pattern. Every time after giving test my confidence used to boost up and at the same time I used to realise my weak aspects which encouraged me to read more. After writing test my friends and I used to discuss the whole paper in detail which help me to tackle twisted and application based questions.
DAMS: What do you think is the better way of preparation between selective, intensive study and wide, extensive study? What did you choose as your style of studying?
Dr Vaibhav:
Selective and Intensive way of study is key to success, because that will help you to recollect high yield topics. I concentrated more on Revising subjects in less time, which I think is more important than reading a completely new topic.
DAMS: Indian PG entrances are highly competitive so to compete them students end up in appearing in multiple PG exams , kindly extend your views on this and also their pros and cons of appearing in multiple PG entrances .
Dr Vaibhav:
I think one should at least appear for 3 entrances (all India, AIIMS/PGIMER, JIPMER). PG Exam will help you get different opportunities with different challenges and at the same time Appearing for too many entrances will not be fruitful.
DAMS: Which subjects did you focus on?
Dr Vaibhav:
According to new NBE pattern main crux lies in 1st, 2nd and final year subjects, so I focused more on these subjects.
DAMS: What was your strategy for the exam day? How many questions did you attempt and why?
Dr Vaibhav:
To take adequate sleep before exam, and do not stress up yourself. I attempted 197/200 because of psychometric analysis.
DAMS: What do you want to specialize in, why and where?
Dr Vaibhav:
Intervention Neuro Radiology, because it has always fascinated me.
DAMS: Which teachers in DAMS influenced you most and what do you like about DAMS and would recommend to your juniors?
Dr Vaibhav:
Sumer Sethi Sir, has always been an inspirational personality. DAMS is always concerned about their students and organize various seminars to guide students towards the right path. I would recommend my juniors to join Test series and opt the benefits of DAMS.
