Dr. Tarun Bansal did his MBBS from GMC, Amritsar

He secured Rank 1 IN PUNJAB PG 2013 & 90 IN PGI DEC 2012 Exam

DAMS: Congratulations on securing a  good  ranks. What is the secret of your success in this exam?
Dr. Tarun Bansal:
Thank you......There is no SECRET to success....... its hardwork, time management, good guidance, constant motivation, REPEATED REVISIONS, faith in my own abilities and in God.
DAMS: How did your parents, family and friends contribute to your success?
Dr. Tarun Bansal:
This wouldn’t have been possible without the blessings and support of parents and family....and friends were vital in my preparation as with them I could share all my doubts and my fears...
DAMS: Who influenced you to take up Medicine?
Dr. Tarun Bansal:
Becoming a doctor is my dream, so I opted for medicine...
DAMS: We appreciate the fact that preparing for an extremely competitive exam must be really challenging. During your preparation, did you ever doubt your ability to succeed in it?
Dr. Tarun Bansal:
There was not a single moment free of doubt but constant motivation from my family and friends lead me through hard times..
DAMS:  Which books did you read for the theory part?
Dr. Tarun Bansal:
Standard texts including Ganong, robins, Harrison...
DAMS: Which books did you read for MCQ revision? Which revision books were the most productive and which were least?
Dr. Tarun Bansal:
Apart from DAMS class notes for all the subjects  ANAT: across, PHYSIO: smart study series, BIOCHEM: Harper, PATH: Gobind Garg, PHARMA: Gobind Garg, MICRO: Rachna Chaurasia, FORENSIC: book by Sumit Seth, EYE: only DAMS class notes, ENT:  only DAMS class notes, SPM: Arvind Arora, MED: Amit Ashish, SURGERY: Amit Ashish , OBS n GYNAE: Sakshi Arora, PAEDS: only DAMS class notes,  SARP n ORTHO: only DAMS class notes..AA n MK only for questions....DAMS CLASS NOTES WERE THE MOST PRODUCTIVE...

DAMS: How important you think was DAMS in your preparation?
Dr. Tarun Bansal:
It wouldn’t have been possible without DAMS...DAMS made a scaffold upon which I built my preparation.
DAMS: What do you think is the better way of preparation between selective, intensive study and wide, extensive study? What did you choose as your style of studying?
Dr. Tarun Bansal:
I think wide extensive study is better but only if u can concise it so that it can be revised at the last...
DAMS: Indian PG entrances are highly competitive so to compete them students end up in appearing in multiple PG exams , kindly extend your views on this and also their pros and cons of appearing in multiple PG entrances .
Dr. Tarun Bansal:
Multiple exams are better as it provides a greater chance of being selected...
DAMS: Which subjects did you focus on?
Dr. Tarun Bansal:
I focussed on all the subjects equally, just divided the time spent on each subject according to length of the subject...
DAMS: What was your strategy for the exam day? How many questions did you attempt and why?
Dr. Tarun Bansal:
I went for the exam totally free and cool minded...I marked 464 options and refrained myself from making guesses..
DAMS: What do you want to specialize in, why and where?
Dr. Tarun Bansal:
I want to become a cardiologist...but it’s not possible from the rank I got..So for the time being just hoping for the best...

DAMS: Which teachers in DAMS influenced you most and what do you like about DAMS and would recommend to your juniors?
Dr. Tarun Bansal:
It’s difficult to name as all the teachers were awesome and all have contributed a lot to my success...but special thanks to Sumer sir for solving our doubts 24*7 and Head of DAMS Amritsar so brilliantly...the best part of dams is the concise and yet complete class notes by great teachers...

EXPERIENCE WITH DAMS: IT is my good luck that DAMS started it’s Amritsar branch this year, without which it was not possible for me to succeed...Special thanks to DAMS Amritsar and other staff members of DAMS Amritsar for organizing everything perfectly all the year round and completing the course well in time...THANKU SO MUCH...
