DAMS: Congratulations on securing a  good  ranks. What is the secret of your success in this exam?

There’s nothing like a secret in it. Only consistent hard work, optimism and faith in god.
DAMS: How did your parents, family and friends contribute to your success?
Dr.Parth Desai:
A lot even though i belong to a non medico family, support and inspiration of my mother and my elder sister was one of the important pillars of my success.
DAMS: Who influenced you to take up Medicine?
Dr.Parth Desai:
My wish, my mother and god’s blessings and guidance of my teachers.
DAMS: We appreciate the fact that preparing for an extremely competitive exam must be really challenging. During your preparation, did you ever doubt your ability to succeed in it?
Dr.Parth Desai:
Truly speaking yes. But then positive thinking and quote of Swami Vivekananda, whom I follow respectfully, helped me a lot that “ARISE, AWAKE AND STOP NOT TILL THE GOAL IS REACHED”.
DAMS:  Which books did you read for the theory part?
Dr.Parth Desai:
BDC and students Grays Anatomy, Ganong, Lippincott’s Biochemistry, Reddy, KDT, Robbins, Anantnarayan, Harrison, Love and Belly, Park, Khurana, Dhingra, Dutta, Shaws, Maheshwari and Ghai.
DAMS: Which books did you read for MCQ revision? Which revision books were the most productive and which were least?
Dr.Parth Desai:
MK and AA are must with correction of some answers. Arvind Arora for short subjects and across for first year. Garg for Pharma, Vivek Jain for PSM, Punit Bhojani for OBG, MK for Medicine and AA for surgery.

DAMS: How important you think was DAMS in your preparation?
Dr.Parth Desai:
DAMS did final plastering over my building of preparation. Test series was very productive from which I could judge progress of my prep, also DAMS exclusive club discussion and NEET live test series were very helpful and boosted my confidence.
DAMS: What do you think is the better way of preparation between selective, intensive study and wide, extensive study? What did you choose as your style of studying?
Dr.Parth Desai:
wide extensive study during MBBS, selective and retrospective study during preparation phase.
DAMS: Indian PG entrances are highly competitive so to compete them students end up in appearing in multiple PG exams , kindly extend your views on this and also their pros and cons of appearing in multiple PG entrances .
Dr.Parth Desai:
By appearing in multiple exams you can have chances of getting your desired branch from one or other exams because preparation is same for all. But this time due to change in pattern of examination of NEET and overlapping exam dates students were put in a trouble. Especially NEET was one liner memory based questions and AIIMS and PGI are concept based. In that case I stuck to basics, standard texts references and day to day updates and guidance of DAMS pioneer Dr. Sumer Sethi whom I thank a lot.
DAMS: Which subjects did you focus on?
Dr.Parth Desai:
Medicine, Surgery, OBG, PSM. Also first year subjects, Opthal and Ortho.
DAMS: What was your strategy for the exam day? How many questions did you attempt and why?
Dr.Parth Desai:
My strategy was to attempt as many questions as possible provided I know something about the topic. I attempted 190 questions.
DAMS: What do you want to specialize in, why and where?
Dr.Parth Desai:
I want to specialize in life saving branch from the beginning like interventional cardiology or neurosurgery.

DAMS: Which teachers in DAMS influenced you most and what do you like about DAMS and would recommend to your juniors?
Dr.Parth Desai:
Although i had joined only test series from the dams, i highly recommend all juniors to join DAMS as DAMS is not just a professional pg coaching class but it’s like a family. All faculty members are very helpful to all students still m so much impressed by Dr.Sumer Sethi for continuous motivation, answering all my queries on FB and giving importance to all students equally whether student seats in Delhi or Dehradun, Bombay or Baroda. So that students from small cities are also getting proper orientation and keep in touch with best faculties of India round the clock.
